Epica rewards tolerance

'STOP SECTARIANISM BEFORE IT SOPS US' The 05 Amam anti-sectarian campaign scooped recently an Epica bronze. Well done for Leo Burnett creative team; it is quite rewarding to see AMAM buzzing social campaign, designed with a pinch of irony and sarcasm, get such a great exposure and greater recognition. Although, the campaign denigrates with zeal, the Lebanese society drawing it as wholly sectarian, which could possibly exacerbate even more confessional belongings . Through Amam--an imaginary private company -- the campaign is mocking religious and socio- professional interactions: “parking for maronites”, “doctor for shiites”, “greek-orthodox specialist”… Anyhow.. A round of applause for Beirut Leo's multi-confessional creative team: Omar Boustany: Associate creative director Manal Naji: Senior art director Yasmina Baz: Art director Reem Kotob: Art director Awards already in hand: Bronze Epica 2007 for direct marketing. Dubaï Lynx Awards : Bronze Integrated Communication Pikasso Afficheur Citoyen: February 2007 And finalist at: Cristal MENA : Magazine Cristal Finalist Cristal MENA : Outdoor Cristal Finalist

Absolut NY

Absolut Vodka has a reputation for eye-grabbing traditional ads, often featuring graphics by famous artists. But the company outdid itself in 2000 by teaming up with fellow Swedish global brand IKEA to transform a regular Manhattan billboard into stylish New York City apartment, turned on its side — and shaped like an Absolut bottle. The co-branding experiment drew big time attention and the news was quickly spread.

LEGO rocks

Here @The Zone, we love such gripping-unconventional-crazy-innovative-groundbreaking ideas. Again, Lego did it, Lego rocks! And that's how you get crazy in love with a brand that stands out from the crowd :) Agency : IDB-FCB, Chile

Weeds, the comedy

This is a billboard to advertise for comedy “Weeds” about a single mother who makes a living by selling marijuana to support her family; it had attached three 6-foot high bags filled with giant sandwiches and massive prop marijuana. Agency : FCB New Zealand This latter billboard had a security camera trained upon it and when inevitably the marijuana was stolen, the footage was released as a viral video which received 60,000 views and wide-spread press coverage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXaS4IOkstg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgBi8Zozfvk

SHOOT ME or HIT IT

Another amazing and smart guerilla ad for Canon S1. Wish we can see in Kuwait's streets, very soon, such creative and innovative ideas. What does it take to conceive and initiate such concepts? Especially that nowadays, Guerilla advertising is invading loads of countries. It seems to be the latest trend. But in all cases we would be followers, imitators; that's the way it is! nevertheless a rockin' idea would spare you the "hey, it's about time"; or "Ha, they copied this, they copied that" etc. Just a reminder: this is not a new mean of advertsing but it is somehow new and is called AMBIENT MEDIA. Google the word to learn more and preferably, apply the strategy. Thanking in advance every creative mind working in an ad agency in Kuwait for the much needed effort to challenge the classical way of doing things. Yalla!!! ENOUGH dullness, time for enthrallment to seduce your target. It's time to fascinate the consumer, to captivate your audience, to please, i mean PLEASE your client. Time for some enchantment in advertising; time to make us reconciliate with this industry coz believe it or not it's loosing its credibility BIG TIME, and in Kuwait more than any other place. We want to yell a WOW at every corner of a street. Y NOT? How impossible is that?? We have great creative minds, that is certain; but Y do they look handcuffed, debilitated by some mysterious reasons? PLEASE HELP liberate the minds!! :)) P.S: This blog is made for your inspiration and aspiration... HIT IT!!

IT IS POSSIBLE!

TO GRAB ATTENTION, HAVE THE GUTS TO CHANGE THE SCENERY.. ....& PLEASE DO! The "IMPOSSIBLE SPRINT" outdoor campaign for Adidas, won a Bronze Clio Award in Innovative Media category & a Media Lion-Cannes, for the Best use of Outdoor. That was in 2005. An ad which featuring a vertical 100m dash was placed on two buildings in Hong Kong and Osaka-Japan. This is the kind of alternative marketing & strategic solutions- called ambient media- that is sure to grab people's attention in a very cluttered media advertising space. The interest in making the vertical 100m dash a "real" sport was also expressed.. by TBWA\Japan, Tokyo for Adidas, Osaka; Carat, Hong Kong. Creative Director & Copywriter: John Merrifield ; Art Director: Shintaro Hashimoto, Hirofumi Nakajima

Let's go ambient

The advertising industry is, by its very nature, dynamic and in constant need of new ways in which to communicate messages to the consumer. It is now at a stage of development where the introduction of original and exciting forms of advertising and promotions is essential in order to satisfy the ever-increasing demands of the advertiser in their desire to sell their products or services. Derived from ambience, Ambient Media implies that it blends with its surrounding. This phrase started to appear in British media jargon about four years ago, but now seems to be firmly established as a standard term within the advertising industry. It refers to almost any kind of advertising that occurs in unconventional medium. It is meant to catch you by surprise and pop up when you least expect it. It is Guerrilla marketing that aims at changing the target audience mind-set and thus introduce the core product or service by challenging 'accepted' forms of advertising.
