Jean Marie & the Cinémathèque

Tarek Sultan, Advertising Manager of Al Qabas newspaper with Jean Marie Boursicot, creator of The Night of The Adeaters in Kuwait, Feb. 2005 It all started at 10! After having discovered his first treasure, a big poster lauding the merits of Gervais ice cream, he decided to become the Ali Baba of Advertising. The operator of Ciné Madeleine in Paris, who found this kid loveable, used to give him copies of candies' commercials as Krema sweets, Miko ice cream.. The embryo of a collection was born. He rifled the waste cans. Not just any ones! Those of film distributors of the Boulevard Longchamps who carelessly unaware, discarded trailers and advertisng films. By accumulating his "treasures", he mixed his passion for posters and advertising with that for Cinema, without imagining, at that time, turning his passion into a business. After his college years, he emerged at Publicis in 1978. There, he discovered that, surprisingly, no one keeps the commercial spots. Neither advertisers, nor agencies nor the producers! Jean Marie Boursicot decided to create the Cinemathèque, a library of advertising films that encompasses today over 700 000 TV commercials.
